FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do you do for security? Every visitor has to check in through our main office. If a child needs to leave early with a parent, they must be checked out through the camp office and through their church leader as well. We have a coded gate that stays closed, and only opened by camp employees.

Is your staff certified? Yes, our waterfront staff all have current lifeguard and CPR certifications through the American Red Cross. All of our ropes staff are also ropes course certified by adventure experiences and CPR certified through the American Red Cross.

Who do you hire for summer staff? Camp WOW only hires America’s finest collegiate students. They all go through a thorough application and interview process. This process includes a background check. Camp WOW’s directors recruit at numerous colleges to find students who love Christ and are a great fit for camp.

How much money should my child bring? We have found that on average campers bring $30.00. Money can be used in the Snack Shack to buy snacks, t-shirts, and other merchandise. You can see a list of products and prices under the “Cash Cards” tab. You can also purchase a Cash Card which puts their money on a card, so if they lose it we still have the account on file. This can be pre-purchased at our store here, or they can do it when they arrive.

Who stays with my child in the bunks? Camp WOW staff does not stay with the campers. Campers will stay in dorms with counselors from their church group.

How do I know that my child will be safe? Camp WOW strives to minimize any risk of injury. We accomplish this by certifying and training all of our staff with safety being our chief goal. We also give every group an orientation with our camp rules first thing when they arrive.

How deep is the waterfront? The lake is 30 foot deep but is only used for riding tubes. Life jackets are required in this area and a maximum of two or three campers are allowed at a time. The swimming area has a shallow end of 5 feet and a deep end of 12 feet. All campers must pass a swim test before being allowed to take part in the deep end without a life jacket. In the deep end we have a 1:1 staffer and 1:2 lifeguard to camper in the water ratio.

What if my child has a food allergy? Camp WOW will allow campers to bring and store food in the kitchen for use during their stay.  Contact Tracy for notification/planning of special circumstances.

What if my child needs to take medication or medical treatment? Every group that comes is required to bring a certified nurse that will stay in our nursing station. All of the medication must be turned in and will be handled by the group’s nurse.

How do I contact my child? In case of Emergency you can call the Camp WOW office (580) 892-2600. You may need to make special arrangements with group leaders to contact your child.

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE.

Cash Cards are a great way to provide spending money for your camper, without fear of them losing or misplacing cash. Cash Cards can be used for all purchases in the Snack Shack, including food, drinks, candy, ice cream, t-shirts, water bottles and other merchandise! They can also use their Cash Cards to purchase archery tag games. Purchases not included are soda/snack machine and merchandise sold by bands, churches, or other groups independent of Camp WOW. Cash Cards may be purchased on our Online Store here or in the Snack Shack when campers arrive at camp.

PLEASE order Cash Cards at least 2 days before your child arrives at camp. Orders placed in less than 24 hours before camp starts, cannot be guaranteed to be delivered to your student on the day they arrive. Cash Cards are distributed in the cafeteria, during the first meal on day of arrival, or can be picked up in the Snack Shack on following days. Please let your camper know that you purchased a Cash Card for them. To check the balance of a camper’s account during their stay at camp, email store@campwow.com or call our office, 580-892-2600.

ARCHERY TAG

All new ARCHERY TAG is coming to Camp WOW!!!! We are excited to be replacing Laser Tag with Archery Tag this summer! Archery Tag is played much like Paintball, but without the pain Paintball causes. Using foam-tipped arrows, bows, and face masks, this game is much more interactive than Laser Tag and much more safe than Paintball. To see how Archery Tag is played, check it out on YouTube.com.
